lucky USSSS [houston] we get RAIN every day this week...which is definitely not something i look forward to! nonetheless, i will take this opportunity to speak on rainy day necessities.believeeeee me, just because it's raining, it does not give ppl an excuse to dawn weave-protecting grocery bags, wear "school bus" yellow ponchos [circa 5th grade], or stop your daily lives just to avoid a lil H2O.

note: this list does not include: umbrellas & hoodies for the simple fact that this is thekommonthread not thekommonsense.

1. Patent leather for the weather

This was inspired by a young chap i saw in the mall...i wish i had my camera on me cuz ol' boy had two plastic bags wrapped around his sneakers...like HEB rainboots.that was totally uncalled for...don't u agree?? soooo...my rainy day attire usually consists of patent leather forces [fly and functional]. it's a great alternative to rainboots & are really easy to clean and maintain through the rain. if mariah can make it, so can we.

2. ready to head out

the number one mistake of females when its raining is trying to look TOO cute. c'mon we all know what rain + humidity + moisture do to your do. so call it a day and get FITTED. not only is it a good way to hide that hair, this fitted comes in a hotttt royal blue adorned with our favorite letter: K.

3. something to warm the heart

i will never understand why there are such grumpy, groggy, badly-dressed people lurking the malls/highways/etc. on rainy days. a sure-fire way to give u a lil kick in your step and sway you for hibernating for the week: a lil starbucks. According to a study by Vanderbilt University, coffee can lower your risk of diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and colon cancer, lift your mood and treat headaches and lower your risk of cavities

my personal choice: white chocolate mocha, w/soy, 5 pump yummmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

4. give it some time
when its raining outside, give yourself some extra time to get where you're going. accidents, angry road rage, and splashing water on helpless pedestrians is def NOT a good look.

5. if all else fails, stay @ home and read thekommonthread

if you can't BEAR to step foot outside when its raining, at least be productive & upgrade yerselves. read our blog and commentcommentcomment. you bring sunshine to OUR rainy days :]
